FCC improves position in Merco ranking of best places to work
FCC's human resources policies, which integrate a commitment to people with the pursuit of the Group's general goals, are beginning to gain wider recognition. The Group climbed 19 places in the Merco Personas 2011 league table to position 44, ahead of such companies as ACS, Ferrovial and Agbar.
The Merco Personas ranking analyses companies' people management strategies. Participants in the survey identified professional development, motivation, recognition, and ethical and professional values as the most important variables when rating a company in this area.
The company focuses particularly on talent management by drawing up attraction and retention plans, and it also promotes initiatives to identify the best employees and engage them with an efficient and dynamic corporate culture that offers them an optimal career path.
A total of 11,829 respondents participated in the Merco Personas 2011 survey; they rated professional development as the most important variable in a company, followed by motivation and recognition, and the company's ethical and professional values. Respondents ranked pride in belonging in fourth place, ahead of work/life balance and compensation.
These results are a departure from those of last year, when compensation was ranked as the top priority by survey respondents.
For the first time, Inditex occupies the first place in the ranking of Spain's best employers. It is followed by Mercadona and Iberdrola in second and third place, respectively. There were three financial institutions among the top ten: Banco Santander ranked fourth, BBVA ninth and Caixabank tenth. As for foreign companies, Google was in fifth place, Microsoft in sixth. Telefonica (7th) and Repsol (8th) complete the top ten.
