FCC lands its first energy services contract in Santa Susanna (Barcelona)
FCC's commitment as a Citizens Services Group has been further strengthened by a contract for the street lighting system in Santa Susanna (Barcelona). This is FCC's first energy services contract, and the company will provide energy supply and end-to-end street lighting management services. The contract has a duration of 12 years with the possibility of 2-year extensions up to 16 years.
During that period, FCC will monitor energy costs, maintain the street light network, and seek energy savings to reduce consumption by the district government and potentially introduce renewable energies into the system.
FCC envisions capital expenditure to improve energy efficiency and modernise the street lights, enabling the Maresme district government to reduce its annual energy consumption in street lighting by 52% and to avoid the emission of more than 300 tonnes of CO2 per year, which will help combat climate change.
The savings derived from reducing energy consumption will enable the government to fund upgrades to the street light system to improve energy efficiency and conform to standards while also providing a profit for the company.
This is first comprehensive street light contract awarded to FCC as an energy services company, underlining its commitment, as a Citizen Services Group, to creating intelligent cities.
