FCC has obtained an integrated permit (IPPC) for the Lapovo tip

By obtaining this permit and as the operator of the Lapovo tip, FCC in Serbia has shown a high degree of social responsibility and commitment to the continuous improvement of environmental protection.
Holding an integrated permit is of great importance for operators given that public concerns are calmed by an official test that the activities undertaken by the operator have no negative effects on the environment as well as facilitating inspections.

About the IPPC permit

The integrated prevention and control of environmental pollution in the Republic of Serbia are regulated by integrated prevention and control of environmental pollution regulation as well as the set of regulations and rules accompanying this legislation.

With this regulation, Directive 96/61/CE is transposed to national legislation. The law defines the conditions and procedures for issuing integrated permits for installations and activities that could have negative effects to human health, the environment or physical property, the types of activities and installations, supervision and other questions of importance for the prevention and control of environmental pollution.

Based on the Decree on the types of activities and installations for which an integrated permit is issued, the obligation to obtain this license is the responsibility of the power production, metals production and processing, mineral, chemical and wastes handling industries and other activities (paper industry, textile treatment, kennels, food production, intensive cattle and pig breeding installations, etc).

Operators must work according to the best available techniques (BAT) to comply with all the environmental protection requirements.

The purpose of the integrated permit consists of preserving the environment in its entirety, encouraging the use of cleaner technologies, reducing wastes at source and stimulating innovation by the operators to seek suitable solutions to environmental problems.

The permit must specify the conditions in which the operator must work (emissions to water, air and soil, wastes handling, energy efficiency, etc) as well as monitoring those to be carried out and the measures that must be adopted to achieve a high level of environmental protection.

The integrated permit is an entry ticket to the "elite club"

In Serbia there are 227 installations that are obliged to obtain an integrated permit. At this time, 18 operators have obtained an integrated permit (the permit for the Lapovo tip is the 19th) and is only the second permit issued within the ambit of waste handling (tips).

The deadline for issuing all the integrated permits is 31 December 2020.
