FCC takes part in an event with the mayor of Alicante
Gabriel Echávarri, the mayor of Alicante, was the key participant at an informative breakfast organised by Executive Forum España in Madrid. The councillor was accompanied at the congress by José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, the former president of Spain, and Antonio Hernando, the spokesperson of the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party).
FCC Medio Ambiente also participated in this informative event. Jordi Payet, the managing director of FCC Medio Ambiente, represented FCC Group and was accompanied by several political figures.
The meeting attracted huge media coverage and brought together a large number of attendees. The executive table comprised Gabriel Echávarri, mayor of Alicante; Jordi Payet, the managing director of FCC Medio Ambiente; Vicente Vilanova, chairman of the company CHM; Ángel Garcillán, director of the Levante II regional office of FCC Medio Ambiente, and César Chiva, director of Executive Forum.
Current political developments were the main theme of the breakfast. In his speech, Gabriel Echávarri explained the city model he aims to deliver: “An Alicante with high-quality industrial land to set up companies; an Alicante that does not demonise the construction sector, which once again provides not only legal instruments and legal certainty for setting up companies in the city, but also ensures that all companies compete on equal terms in this sector, with no shortcuts for anyone." He also championed Alicante to become the site of the head office for the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and emphasised the importance of tourism for the city, which brought in major turnover at the close of 2016.
Moreover, the talk given by Gabriel Chávarri was followed by political and social representatives and also representatives of the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and the Digital Agenda. FCC Group has a very prominent presence in the autonomous region of Valencia; the environment area provides services in towns across the board in the three provinces, among which are the capital cities Valencia, Castellón and Alicante.
