FCC Medio Ambiente obtains energy efficiency certification
FCC Medio Ambiente's Barcelona City and Balearic Island offices have obtained certification for their activities on mainland Spain under the standard UNE-EN ISO 50001:2001 Energy management systems. Requirements with guidance for use.
This certification seeks to continually improve energy management and efficiency, reduce energy consumption and the associated financial costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, make proper use of natural resources, and encourage the use of alternative and renewable energies, achieving sustainable energy use and building trust in our organisation on the part of clients and other stakeholders.
Energy is a key component of FCC's activity as it is required for the provision of services and accounts for a substantial part of costs. Energy savings, or energy efficiency, is a practice employed during energy consumption which seeks to reduce the use of energy but achieve the same outcome.
AENOR has certified the following activities:
- Municipal solid waste collection.
- Selective waste collection.
- Waste bin cleaning.
- Street cleaning.
- Maintenance of urban furniture and playgrounds.

This certification ensures that:
- We systematically monitor all of our energy-related activities.
- We continuously improve our energy performance.
- We comply at all times with the legislation in this area.
- We implement and monitor actions to improve our energy performance.
