During the meeting, the first results report on the Spanish Enterprise and Biodiversity Initiative (IEEB) was presented, where the biodiversity actions carried out by these companies in Spain from 2013 to 2015 were listed. These included actions related to the reduction of the impact of their activity, biodiversity research and conservation, and environmental volunteering and awareness. Public-private co-operation projects and training and support for companies carried out by the strategic partners of the Spanish Enterprise and Biodiversity Initiative were also highlighted.

FCC was represented by Catherine Milhau, head of FCC Medio Ambiente  Coordination and Development Department . During her speech, Milhau stated that for FCC, the protection of biodiversity is one of the transversal sustainability targets  from  corporate social responsibility policy and strategy, and a commitment that involves all the group’s business areas. Through its conservation activity and maintenance of urban parks and gardens, FCC Environment contributes to the care and maintenance of about 4,500 hectares of parks and gardens in Spain; 800,000 trees, some of which are exceptional; and 10% of surfaces classified as sites of cultural interest. The company also contributes to the wellbeing of 5.3 million people.

In her conference, Catherine announced that FCC Environment has a team of highly experienced and professional contributors who share and exchange knowledge through the FCCMA SEDRUS® Portal (Sharing Environmental data to reflect urban sustainability): sustainable Park and Garden management that allows remarkable and replicable solutions and good practices to be shared by the technical teams.

She also commented on the awareness initiatives launched by the company and made a brief review of the co-operation agreements that FCC Environment has signed with different organisations.
Throughout the day, pioneering and innovative experiences of business platforms and companies that have shown how the path to sustainable development is possible were also discussed.
