FCC and Alcobendas city government sign agreement to promote road education and safety

The Alcobendas city government and FCC have signed a cooperation agreement to work together in the area of road safety and education. The agreement was signed by Ignacio García de Vinuesa, Mayor of Alcobendas, and Francisco Martín Monteagudo, General Manager of Human Resources at FCC.

This is the first road safety agreement signed with a public administration; it envisages various activities to enhance safety on the roads for vehicles and pedestrians, applying FCC's extensive experience in this area.

The agreement includes the following actions: programmes to raise awareness about safety, accidents and mobility, training, road safety seminars, research projects, counselling and information exchange.

Road Safety Education Park in Alcobendas

The Alcobendas Road Safety Education Park will also be upgraded as part of the agreement. One of FCC's first actions was to outfit the Road Safety Education Park with a site hut, traffic cones, barriers etc., as well as urban furniture such as bus shelters and advertising infrastructure. All of these elements were built to the scale of the circuit.

This project was carried out by various FCC Group companies and areas, including Corporate Expenditure and General Services, Fedemes, FCC Construction's central warehouse of ancillary resources, and Cemusa. A road safety session for employees' children will be held on 21 September, free of charge and organized jointly by FCC and the Alcobendas city government.

Track record in road safety

Since FCC's Strategic Plan for Road Safety was rolled out in 2010, the company has signed the European Road Safety Charter as well as several agreements with Fesvial and the Mapfre Foundation. It has also cooperated closely with Spain's Directorate-General of Traffic in several working groups, and has supported various campaigns and the implementation of best practices.
