FCC and diario Levante organise a series of lectures on "New Trends in Environmental Management"

The series, entitled "New Trends on Environmental Management", has been organised by the Levant Branch of FCC Medio Ambiente, under the supervision of its director, Salvador Otero, and the chief executive officer of Spain’s Environment division, FCC Medio Ambiente, Jordi Payet. Two lectures have been given to date.

The first lecture, named "The Valencian Regional Government's new environmental policy", was given by Elena Cebrián, the Regional Government's Councellor of Agriculture, Environment, Climate Change and Rural Development, on 24th May. Ximo Puig, President of the Valencian Regional Government, gave the closing remarks, to an audience of over 200 people.

On that occasion, Jordi Payet, chief executive officer of FCC Medio Ambiente, emphasised that "preserving the environment is a core value of FCC". Payet described the pioneering role played by FCC, the Citizen Services Group, in implementing new fuels and hybrid and electric vehicles to reduce its carbon footprint and the noise produced by its day-to-day activities. "In line with European Union policy, FCC is committed to reducing CO2 emissions by at least 20% by 2020". He also noted that the Group has over one hundred years of experience in environmental management and currently delivers environmental services to fifteen million people throughout Spain.

The second lecture, on 5th July, was chaired by Agriculture Councellor Elena Cebrián, assisted by Julià Álvaro, Regional Government Secretary for the Environment; Joan Piquer, Director General for Climate Change; Rubén Alfaro, Mayor of Elda (Alicante) and President of the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces; and Jorge Rodríguez, President of the Valencian Provincial Government.

On this occasion , Jordi Payet discussed the importance of municipal governments as "the backbone of public institutions, the closest administration entities to the citizen and, at the same time, the ones that face the daily environmental demands and obligations requested by cities".
The CEO of FCC Medio Ambiente announced that "our strategic priorities are underpinned by three basic principles: connection with citizens, smart services, and outstanding commitment".

Two additional lectures scheduled for October and November

The series will be continued in October and November, with the following lectures: "Intermunicipal Associations for Waste management: Weaknesses and opportunities", and "How to improve environmental management to reach the 22nd century".
