Ensuring the health and safety of employees and collaborators is a fundamental and indispensable element for FCC

For several years, FCC has been strongly committed to projects that foster and increase concern regarding personal health, focussing on physical activity, healthy eating habits and healthcare, the latter regarding areas such as cardiovascular.

Ensuring the health and safety of employees and collaborators is a fundamental and indispensable element for FCC

As a substantial advancement in managing the implementation of a healthy company model, FCC has recently given a two-day training on the implementation of the Aenor model, which was attended by healthcare personnel from medical services and specialists in workplace risks from different business areas. The aim is to align the entire organisation regarding the integration of a health management model.

Another recent initiative that reflected commitment to the wellbeing of people was the management and organising of Mindfulness training, which was held in the first quarter of the year in collaboration with the CEOE. It was primarily aimed at people with different work profiles in the company's corporate areas (employees, worker representatives, directors, etc).  Mindfulness is, fundamentally, the practice of paying complete attention, which practically translates into improving performance ability and quality. The following are a few of the testimonials given:

  •  “In terms of today's working environment, it was a new and positive experience. I think more initiatives like this are needed to improve professional development. From my point of view, the main benefit is to be made aware, using small techniques that are easy to use on a daily basis, of tools that help us to better manage working relationships with the company and colleagues.” Antonio Del Pino (Company Committee)
  •  “From the Mindfulness training, I have learned to identify my emotions and to try to manage them. Because of the course, I now try to pay full attention in all situations, which helps me to enjoy every moment, even those that occur on a daily basis, and to apply it both professionally and personally. Laura Lloro (Purchasing Department)
  •  “The Mindfulness training that we had was really interesting, especially in terms of the large turnout and the active participation during the 8-hour course (two 4-hour sessions). This training is really good, as people noticeably improve their all-round wellbeing in a short space of time, which has a positive influence on the other processes they are engaged in. The training was well received. The attendees showed great interest and eagerness to participate in and practice that taught. I have seen testimonials that point to improvements in concentration, emotions management, particular automatisms, and in stress and time management. Thais Alonso (training instructor)

Lastly, regarding the fostering of healthy eating habits, it is worth mentioning that the contract for the canteen at the Federico Salmón office has recently been renewed in favour of the company, Alcesa. The contract renewal, in the award process, involved more demanding requirements regarding aspects that ensure the best availability of healthy products, the elimination of alcohol and some sugary drinks, and the inclusion of actions that foster healthy eating habits.
