FCC volunteers inaugurate lecture programme at Nostra Casa Retirement Home in Barcelona

FCC's corporate volunteer programme, which is part of the Social Responsibility Master Plan and functions in cooperation with the Esther Koplowitz Foundation, commenced a monthly lecture programme on Wednesday, 28 April, at the Nostra Casa Retirement Home in Barcelona, which was built by the Foundation.

Like its sister project organised by FCC volunteers at the retirement home in Collado Villalba (Madrid), the programme seeks to encourage residents to discuss and debate current events.

There was a large turnout for the first event in Barcelona, which featured the writer Fernando del Arco, a leading taurine bibliophile. His presentation, entitled "Manolete and his love affair with Barcelona", also focused on the long-standing bullfighting tradition in Catalonia.

Following the lecture and comments by various residents, FCC Group's Head of Corporate Responsibility, Javier López-Galiacho, thanked Del Arco and, on behalf of FCC volunteers, presented him with the book Scenes of Spain, one of the many published by FCC, which includes a chapter on bullrings. Del Arco thanked FCC, commenting that he would be delighted to add the book to his extensive library.
