This is one of the many different activities organised by FCC volunteers at the Nuestra Casa retirement home in Collado Villaba (Madrid) with the ultimate goal of providing companionship to residents.

Mr Falcones spoke to the residents about the company and the importance of its volunteer programme. He also paid tribute to the work of the Esther Koplowitz Foundation, which is funded solely by Ms Koplowitz herself.

FCC launched its corporate volunteer programme at its Madrid offices in February 2008; the initiative spread to Valencia and Barcelona, and will eventually be established in Valladolid, where the Foundation is currently building a retirement home.

The project, supervised by FCC's corporate responsibility department, is aligned with the goals of the Esther Koplowitz Foundation, which has long worked in favour of the underprivileged; the programme arose from the idea of sharing the values, concerns and aspirations of the communities in which FCC operates.

Given the significance of the Esther Koplowitz Foundation's activities, it is highly appropriate that FCC's corporate volunteer programme should support the Foundation’s efforts to help those in need.
