FCC wins the refuse collection and street cleaning tender for Fuente Alamo (Murcia)
FCC Medio Ambiente has recently been awarded a contract for the refuse collection and street cleansing services in Fuente Alamo, Murcia, for a period of four years. The total contract backlog exceeds 5.1 million euros.
The municipality of Fuente Alamo has a population of 17,000 inhabitants and is located in the natural area of Campo de Cartagena.
For the management of the service, FCC will have a staff of 23 workers and 20 vehicles, 13 of which have been newly acquired. The other replacements will be provided by the former service provider.
FCC is committed to the computerisation of services, especially in waste collection. To do this, the company will install weighers in the waste collection lorries and positioning sensors in all containers (RFID), as well as volumetric filling sensors in the selective collection containers. In addition, the vehicles will carry geo-location and data transmission devices (GPS).
FCC Medio Ambiente will use low or zero combustion gas emission machinery (NO, CO, CO2, Pt and HC). As for the collection equipment, the main technological innovations in vehicles are aimed at reducing noise. Special care has been taken with the soundproofing of the side load collector equipment, including the hopper and compacting chamber.
Some 100%-electricequipment, such as brush cutters or blowing and vacuum machines, will be used as part of the operation. These practical measures represent an improvement for the service, since they do not consume fossil fuels and are zero-emission equipment.
