The EfW plant, which was designed and built by Hitachi Zosen INOVA (HZI), is FCC’s ninth in operation.

The facility began processing waste in February last year and became fully operational in July. The facility has a capacity of 22MWe, enough to provide electricity to 36.000 homes, and has become the key disposal point for all local authorities in Buckinghamshire, processing 300,000 tons of residual waste per year.

The contract was awarded to FCC Environment in 2013 and is to run for 30 years, with a portfolio value of €1.095 billion (£920.4 million).
