The event took place at L'Hospitalet de Llobregat and was presided over by Nuria Marín, Mayoress of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, accompanied by the town´s Councillor for Environment and Sustainability, José Castro; the director of the FCC Environment Catalonia I branch, Martí Juanola, Ángel García, the CEO of Virensis, the company responsible for carrying out the programme, and the social representation of contract workers.

The programme focuses on developing the skills of street cleansing employees so they can be aware of the value and responsibility of their daily work, and to have a direct influence on their self-confidence and self-esteem. This awareness of his or her responsibility extends to the relationships that the individual establishes with the community, with the company and with the environment in which he or she carries out their work, within the framework of comprehensive social responsibility. This must and can transform him or her into a model for others that will extend to the people with whom he or she interacts.

All FCC staff at L’Hospitalet will participate in the programme which will last 18 months. A new feature is also the indirect participation of the technical staff responsible from L'Hospitalet Town Hall, which marks a new approach to FCC´s public-private partnerships with the administrations with which it tenders.

L'Hospitalet de Llobregat is the second most populated city in Catalonia. FCC has been delivering street cleansing and waste collection services to the City for over half a century. In addition, it is the main contract of FCC Environment’s Catalonia I branch.
