The company Limpieza e Higiene de Cartagena (LHICARSA) signs its equality plan
For some years, FCC Group has been working intensively to create ethical principles and values and to implement programmes, internal procedures and positive measures to create a working atmosphere that enhances respect among employees, equal opportunities for men and women and the integration of diversity, including an increasing assumption of commitments to sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
This plan consists of a set of measures to attain equality of treatment and opportunities among men and women and eliminate any sign of gender discrimination within the company for which it was designed.
The agreement was signed on behalf of Limpieza e Higiene de Cartagena by its Director, Fernando José de Mateo Luengo, and the head of the Human Resources Department, Florencio Sánchez Martínez. Signing for UGT - Federación Servicios Públicos was its General Secretary, Antonio Martínez Peñaranda, the Chair of LHICARSA Company Committee and Committee member Pedro López Milán while signing for Comisiones Obreras - Federación Construcción y Servicios was its General Secretary Juan Fernández Bernal and Company Committee member Pedro Dávila Ruiz.
Signing on behalf of the companies in Limpieza e Higiene de Cartagena were the Councillor for Culture, Education and Equality of Cartagena City Council, David Martínez Noguera, the Chair of the LHICARSA Board of Directors, José López Martínez, the Area Director of FCC Medio Ambiente, Manuel Ramirez Ledesma and the Human Resources Director of FCC Medio Ambiente, Luis Suarez Zarcos.
With this plan, the company wishes to contribute to the creation of awareness of the individual rights of all its employees, protecting them and empowering them. It especially protects the dignity of persons within the company, setting guidelines for healthy behaviour and eradicating behaviours that could be considered illegitimate intrusions into personal privacy or that violate the dignity of persons.
The specific objectives of the Equality Plan are:
- To promote the defence and effective application of the principle of equality among men and women, guaranteeing the same opportunities in the employment areas for entry and professional development at all levels.
- To improve the balanced distribution of gender within the plan’s area of application.
- To promote and improve women’s possibilities of access to posts of responsibility, contributing to reducing inequalities and imbalances that may arise in LHICARSA even though they are of historical, cultural, social or family origin.
- To prevent employment discrimination for reasons of gender, setting up a procedure for action in these cases.
- To strengthen the commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility assumed by the Group to improve the employees’ quality of life and that of their families and to encourage the principle of equal opportunities.
- To set principles of exclusion of any measures that may prejudice the conciliation of working life with the LHICARSA workers’ family and personal lives.
To achieve these objectives, a series of action areas is planned, focused on access to employment, promotion, training, retribution, conciliation, discrimination prevention and correction measures, prevention of gender harassment, communication and the protection of workers suffering from gender violence.
It also involves specific mileposts and measurements to be made during the currency of the plan, agreed in principle up to 25 September 2021, together with a Monitoring Committee to ensure the effectiveness of its measures.
