New policy for the establishment, registration and brand management
FCC has developed a new methodology created to manage its brand, which was approved by the Steering Committee on December 17th, 2012, and reflected in the “Policy for the establishment, registration and brand management”(*). This unified policy for managing and protecting industrial property rights is necessary to adequately protect the Group’s corporate image and reputation and to protect the FCC Group’s industrial property rights in respect of third parties. It is also essential for avoiding potential conflicts with the industrial property rights of competitors or third party companies. The trademark becomes a basic need for the international expansion of the company.
The departments and responsibilities directly involved in approving the Group’s trademark coordination and control policy and managing trademark registration are:
- Director of Corporate Marketing and Branding, part of the Communications and Corporate Responsibility Department.
- Mercantile Department, part of the Corporate Legal Affairs Department.
This methodology was born as part of the new brand management project, to keep the Group’s identity consistent and generate brand value, being mandatory for the entire Group and in particular:
- When a new company is created in Spain or anywhere else in the World.
- When FCC or a Group company opens a new office (whether a branch office, agency or permanent establishment) in another country and wishes to add a local name or reference.
- When the Group holds a majority or managing interest in a company.
- Generally speaking, whenever it is necessary to name a company or a Business activity within the FCC Group, whether as the result of the creation of a new company, an acquisition, a merger or a structural modification.
- When a company will be doing business under the “FCC” corporate brand name and/or any other Group brand name.
