FCC Construcción wins the contract for the comprehensive rehabilitation of the headquarters of the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community

FCC Construcción, in consortium with Edifesa Obras y Proyectos, has won the contract for the comprehensive rehabilitation of the headquarters of the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community, for an amount of more than 25 million euros.

The rehabilitation project contemplates the recovery of the original building, revaluing the most important heritage elements such as the interior patios, the stairs, the vaults, the Chamber, the halls and the ornamental elements. In addition, the structure of the property, the roofing system, its insulation will be consolidated by replacing carpentry and flooring in contact with the ground and an interior redistribution will be carried out to adapt it to current needs.

The project also includes the comprehensive renovation of the electrical installation, sanitation and water distribution, security installations, fire detection and protection, and ventilation and air conditioning systems. In this last point, the building will be the first in the Valencian Community to have a sustainable geothermal heating system.

In total, it will act on a useful surface of 9,257 square meters. After the renovation, four hearing rooms will be located on the ground floor of the building (two for the Contentious-Administrative jurisdiction, one for the Social Court and one more for the Civil and Criminal Courts), the general services area and detainees and the press room. The mezzanine will house the dependencies of the Prosecutor's Office and the offices for the Contentious-Administrative section. On the first floor there will be two large hearing rooms, one for plenary sessions, the office of the Presidency of the TSJ and that of the Government Secretariat, as well as the Social, Contentious and Civil and Criminal rooms. The bulk of the offices and offices of all jurisdictions will be located on the second floor and, under the roof of the building, on the third floor, the archives, the library and the facilities areas.

The headquarters of the Superior Court occupies the old Real Casa de la Aduana de Valencia, which is a 263-year-old building. It has served as a tobacco factory since 1828 and, for more than a century (1914), as a Palace of Justice. It is listed as a National Historic-Artistic Monument and a Site of Cultural Interest.
