FCC Construcción participates in the XIII Meeting of the Infrastructure, Transport and Mobility sector

FCC Construcción has participated in the XIII Meeting of the Infrastructure, Transport and Mobility sector, organized by ABC and Deloitte.

The opening of the event was carried out by the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, which has announced a new call for 500 million to implement low-emission zones and the sustainability of urban transport. This call is added to the previous one of 1,000 million euros aimed at local corporations and whose funds have already been awarded.

The Spanish high-speed network will grow in less than a month by nearly 350 km with three very important milestones: the new connection between Atocha and Chamartín, the high-speed to Extremadura with the new line between Plasencia and Badajoz, and the high-speed to Burgos .

In this sense, the 13,000 million allocated to sustainable mobility are allowing the investments of the Ministry and the companies of the Mitma Group to increase by 30% in the coming years. The railway is the protagonist of these investments with more than 6,600 million, which will be used to act on more than 800 kilometers of Cercanías lines, in more than 1,500 kilometers of the network of the Mediterranean and Atlantic corridors and in almost 1,000 kilometers of trans-European networks not included in the runners.

The minister has also pointed out the investments in highways, which have an item close to 1,000 million in PRTR funds, with a focus on the humanization of crossings, the safety adaptation of almost 130 tunnels and acoustic protection, in addition to promote access to ports and BUS-HOV lanes.

On the other hand, close to 1,000 million will be allocated to intermodality and logistics, specifically rail and road access to ports, terminals, and improving security, another 800 million will support the digitization of interoperability programs for rail freight transport and the modernization of its rolling stock.
And, in order to get freight transport off the ground, one of the great pending challenges, last Tuesday the final version of the Mercancías 30 initiative was published, which includes investments of more than 8,000 million euros, the purpose of which is to increase its share of 4 % to 10% to converge with Europe and accelerate the reduction of emissions.

Finally, the minister pointed out that, if the forecasts are fulfilled, the new mobility will have a multiplier effect on the economy, will create hundreds of thousands of jobs and will contribute to increasing the GDP by more than 30,000 million euros.

On behalf of FCC Construcción, she participated in a round table together with OHLA, Acciona and Dragados, Jose A Madrazo, director of Spain, Portugal and the industrial area. Jose A Madrazo has indicated the need to transform the sector and its execution system to make it sustainable, profitable and attractive to investors and workers.
