Tunnel boring machine "San'ah" reaches second station in north section of line 5 of Riyadh Metro

On 11 February, the tunnel-boring machine "San'ah" arrived at the second station "5C1 on King Abdel-Aziz Road" in the north section of line 5 of the Riyadh Metro.

Tunnel boring machine "San'ah" reaches second station in north section of line 5 of Riyadh Metro

The machine has finished close to 3.1 km of drilling works out of a total 4.9 km-long section that covers three stations.

The machine's arrival at the second station represents a significant milestone and marks major progress according to Jaime Freyre, FAST project director: "first because it means we are ahead of planned schedule and, second, it marks the fact that we are getting closer to starting the next stage: track works".

"San'ah" will continue drilling the north section of line 5 (green line) until it reaches "Riyadh Airbase Roundabout", where it will come to the second tunnel that is being drilled by "Dhafrah", the first tunnel-boring machine that began works on the Riyadh Metro project to complete the 12.9 km-long tunnel of line 5.
