FCC supports International Women's Day
FCC joins the celebration of International Women's Day, a date that has taken on a global dimension and become a space for reflection on the progress made by women and those aspects that still need to be improved.
Just like last year, FCC wants to be on the side of this cause by showing its commitment to equality, feminine leadership and diversity, the hallmarks of the Group, and to support the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality campaign through the slogan: “Your footprints have no gender”.
Today, at FCC corporate headquarters in Las Tablas, Pablo Colio, CEO of the FCC Group, opened an event by addressing all those present with a positive message about the company's commitment to equality and on the work that is being carried out in this aspect within the Group.
The meeting, moderated by Juan Pablo Merino (FCC Group Communication, Corporate Marketing and Brand Manager), consisted of a round table attended by Pilar Gómez-Acebo, Honorary President of the Spanish Federation of Women Directors, Executives, Professionals and Business and Vice President of the Directors’ Club, amongst other positions; Joaquín Nieto, director of the Spanish office of the International Labour Organization (ILO); Marta Rovira, Chemical engineer, Aqualia technical manager, in Barcelona and Girona, and featured in the book "Women in the first person"; Lara Martín, forestry engineer, FCC Medio Ambiente garden technician in Villaviciosa de Odón (Madrid); and Paula Ferreras, FCC Construcción civil engineer, of Audits and Works Quality Department, in Madrid. With their contributions, these colleagues have made it clear that equality is something that should concern us all and for which everyone, both men and women, must work. They have shared the advances experienced in their work environment.
FCC's constant commitment is reflected in its active participation in the promotion of equal opportunities. Its policy of equality and diversity reaffirms its commitment to the fundamental principles of equality, non-discrimination in the workplace, support for diversity in the company and respect for the heterogeneity of people. This task, in which the company has been involved for years, has already produced important results and values, thanks to which a just, serious and profoundly diverse work atmosphere is being established.
Amongst other milestones, FCC Group has obtained four Equality Badges in the Company in the Environmental Services, Water and Construction and Industrial areas. It has been the first to sign equality plans in the sectors of Construction, Urban Services and Water activities; the first to develop broad spectrum training in the field of equality and prevention of workplace and sexual harassment directed at the entire organization; and a pioneer along with a select group of companies in the development of the Official Language School master's degree for pre-manager women, as well as participating in the Promociona Project, Executive Programme for Women in Senior Management.
In addition, FCC adheres to the United Nations Global Compact “Principles for the empowerment of women”, and the Diversity Charter, thereby strengthening its principles of equality, diversity and anti-discrimination, promoting inclusion and conciliation.
