What to do in a virtual kidnapping situation

Over the last few months, there has been an increase in virtual kidnappings. This is a new form of extortion which consists of threatening someone by telephone and making them think they are the victim of a kidnapping. At the same time, the family of the person being threatened receive calls from the alleged kidnappers, demanding money from them to release the subject.

What to do in a virtual kidnapping situation

This type of extortion usually happens more often in Central and South America, but also in Spain. For this reason, we suggest you consult the Self-Protection Manual drawn up by the Safety Department and the Organisation Directorate where you will find advice on how to know if you are being extorted and how to deal with it.
