FCC Construcción publishes the 2013-2014 Sustainability Report
FCC Construcción has published its 2013-2014 Sustainability Report, drafted in line with the latest G4 version of the Sustainability Reporting Guidelines issued by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The Guidelines produced by this independent association have become an international reference for assisting organisations to communicate their governance focus and economic, environmental and social activity.
The 2013-2014 Sustainability Report has been verified by the Spanish Association for Standardisation and Certification (AENOR), obtaining the status of comprehensive conformity with the new GRI G4 Guidelines. Based on the materiality criterion, the report mainly focuses on relevant aspects related to how we manage human rights, labour standards, the Environment and the fight against corruption.
Following the three strategic lines of the 2012-2014 3rd Responsibility Master Plan and maintaining our on-going commitment to dialogue and transparency of information, FCC Construcción details in this document the goals and actions designed to respond to the various concerns of the company's interest groups.
The new 2013-2015 Strategic Plan, which aims to enhance the focus on our strategic businesses and to promote our international presence in the most stable and profitable locations, is reflected in the fact that FCC Construcción currently operates in 35 countries and 62% of its portfolio is outside of Spain.
In 2013, the needs arising from the new context of the company led to the extension of the PETRA programme to works in the international area. In addition, we have obtained the Management and Sustainability System global scope certificate, in line with ISO 9001 and ISO 40001, for the various countries in which the company operates.
In terms of our social commitments, FCC Construcción maintained similar training figures in 2013 as in recent years, despite staff cuts. We have also organised a range of awareness campaigns, such as our 1st week dedicated to people with disabilities and their integration into the workplace and society in general, or our support of the campaign against gender-based violence launched by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality.
Mindful of the environmental impact of our sector, good environmental practices are planned and adopted in all our projects. These practices go above and beyond merely complying with the applicable legislation in force. Over the course of 2013, FCC Construcción participated in the creation of the FCC Group Climate Change Strategy and has worked on expanding quantification and verification of Scope 3 emissions from the Greenhouse Gases emissions inventory.
Finally, the high number of publications in the different countries in which we operate is also of note. These publications highlight the company's actions and commitments related to training, developing local economies and to the Environment, Human Resources or Innovation.
